The Level 3 Performance Development Coach course is for coaches who are working with athletes between 15 and 21 years of age and are looking to commence specialisation in a chosen event group and compete at regional, state or national-level competitions.
The course aims to empower coaches to design and lead effective training programs based on peer-reviewed evidence and the knowledge and experience from leading Australian coaches. The focus of the course will be on planning and achieving long-term development of athlete performance, with an eye for establishing positive training habits that will prepare athletes for the elite pathway.
The Level 3 Performance Development Coach gives coaches the opportunity to begin to specialise in either Sprints/Relays/Hurdles, Middle & Long Distance, Jumps, Walks or Throws.
The course is split across four days with face to face learning and pre/post course work. Day One & Two focus on the Coaching Philosophy and Strength & Conditioning for all event groups. Days Three & Four are then event-group specific and covers the coaching and technical analysis of your chosen event group.
How do Level 2 Intermediate Club Coaches progress to Level 3 Performance Development Coach accreditation? Current Level 2 Intermediate coaches are able to take on the Level 3 Performance Development Coach accreditation if they have held their previous accreditation for a minimum 6 months. These coaches will need to complete the full four day course.
How does a coach transition from Level 2 Advanced accreditation to Level 3 accreditation in their current event group? Attend Day Two Strength and Conditioning Modules and complete post course assessment tasks.
How does a coach transition from Level 2 Advanced to Level 3 accreditation in a new event group? Attend Day Two Strength and Conditioning Modules and Attend Days Three & Four in new event group.
What is the process for Recognition for Prior Learning for Day Two - Strength & Conditioning? Any coach who currently holds an accreditation Level 1 or above with the Australian Strength & Condition Association is exempt from attending Day Two. These coaches should contact Athletics Australia on 03 8646 4550.
Only Sprints, Relays & Hurdles and Jumps will be offered for the days 3 & 4 which will be held on the 21st and 22nd of September.
Cost: Current Level 2 Intermediate Club Coaches - $600, Current Level 2 Advanced Coaches - $150, Level 2 Advanced but want to be qualified in another event group - $450
