Queensland Mountain Running Championships

Event date: 3/06/2018 Export event

The 2018 Queensland Mountain Running Championships (U20/Open/Masters) are being held in conjunction with the Camp Mountain Trails Challenge at Bellbird Grove on Sunday 3rd June.

The event is being conducted by the Trail Running Association of Queensland (TRAQ).

This is a fun and challenging off-road race for all ages of 8yrs & above. The various race courses from 1km through to 13.3km are designed to suit different ages and consist of well-constructed forestry trails through D'Aguilar National Park.

The 13.3km course incorporates the Queensland Mountain Running Championships for the 'Open' category, this distance aligns with the Australian and World Mountain Running Championships distances. Minimum age is 20 and the distance is not suitable for walkers; we expect you to be able to run at least all of the flat and downhill sections.

If you fall into a Masters category (over 34) you can opt to run in the 13.3km Open race, but then you forgo the chance to medal in the 8.3km Masters Championship Race.

The 8.3km course includes the U20 and Masters Queensland Mountain Running Championships, but it is also open to 20-34 year olds as a non-championship run. This distance requires you to be at least 16 years old and is suitable for walkers; this distance should leave you enough time to reach the finish line before darkness falls.

This year, the 13.3km and the 8.3km races (men and women) will start respectively at 3pm and 3:05pm. The Junior Trail Challenges (non-championship races) for 8-15 year olds will start after that at: 3:15pm.

Queensland Championship medals are only provided for individuals in the championship categories (U20, Open, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and 65+ age groups). However, there are prizes for the winners across the different distances.

Age groups are determined by the competitor’s age as at 31 December 2018 (i.e. year born), except for Masters.
Masters’ ages are taken to be as on the day of the competition.
