The 2015 Queensland Junior Athletics Championships are being conducted at the State Athletics Facility from Thursday 26th February to Sunday 1st March. The 4-day competition includes the Queensland Junior Para-athletics Championships for athletes with a disability and a preceding National Level classification opportunity for para-athletes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ALL ATHLETES, COACHES & OFFICIALS

Friday 20th February, 11:30 AM

The Queensland Junior Championships will be postponed and conducted Thursday 26 Feb to 1 March.
 
Athletics Australia have agreed to allow changes to the Australian Junior Championships entry rules, these will allow Queensland Athletics to select athletes to represent Queensland on the basis of “likely to have placed in the first three at QLD Juniors”. More details on this process will be posted on the Queensland Athletics website and emailed to all athletes.

Updated Australian Junior Championships Selection Policy

 

AGE GROUPS & ELIGIBILITY
All currently registered Queensland and interstate athletes are invited to participate. Para-athletes must have at least a current National Level Classification. The minimum age to participate is 12 years (athletes born in 2003).

The championships will be conducted in the following age groups for able-bodied athletes:
UNDER 14: Born in 2002 or 2003 only
UNDER 15: Born in 2001 or later
UNDER 16: Born in 2000 or later
UNDER 17: Born in 1999 or later
UNDER 18: Born in 1998 or later
UNDER 20: Born in 1996 or later

Athletes may enter events in multiple age groups as long as they comply with these competition regulations: Multiple Age Groups Memo

Para-athletics events, for athletes with a disability, are conducted using the following age groups (same as National Championships):
UNDER 16 – Ages 12 to 15 years (born during 2000-2003 only)
UNDER 20 – Ages 16 to 19 years (born during 1996-1999 only)

Queensland athletes MUST be currently registered members of QA/ANQ for the 2014-2015 season. If you are not a current member you can register/renew online through a QA club, or contact your ANQ club. Interstate athletes must be current financial members of their relevant AA state association.

Events will be conducted under QA/AA event specifications, hurdle heights and implement weights. Please refer to the Competition Rules page which outlines rules and technical information.

ONLINE ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED. Late entries are not guaranteed and are subject to approval by Queensland Athletics (a late fee of $10 per event applies to any late entry)

PARA-ATHLETES PLEASE NOTE

Queensland Athletics, in partnership with Athletics Australia and the APC, will host a National Level Classification opportunity in conjunction with these championships on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th February. This is the minimum level of classification required in order to be able to compete at State and National level athletics competitions in Australia, including these championships.

Classification will be provided for athletes with a physical impairment only. Athletes seeking classification must register for an appointment online by Wednesday 4th February 2015.

CHECK-IN
Athletes MUST report to the Check-in Centre to advise their intention to compete NO LATER THAN 60 MINUTES PRIOR to the scheduled starting time for their event/s (90 minutes for Pole Vault). Athletes are encouraged to confirm for all events in which they are competing on that day at the same time and must sign to confirm their entries. The Check-in Centre at the State Athletics Facility will be on the grandstand side of the Competition Control Room.

ATHLETES WILL BE WITHDRAWN FROM THEIR EVENTS IF THEY ARRIVE LATE FOR CHECK-IN. Athletes may only be reinstated into their events at the sole discretion of the Competition Director. In such cases a late confirmation fee of $5 will apply for each event affected.
