HISTORY OF THE BROWN-BONWICK MEMORIAL
Ever since the formation of Thompson Estate Athletics on the 3rd of October 1900 the names John Brown and Albert Bonwick and their subsequent families have been significant in not only the establishment of one of the foremost and historic athletic clubs in Australia but also the aid and direction of Queensland Athletics as well. As history slips by we do tend to forget the names and faces of those who forged the sport that we all love, so the Committee of Thompson Estate are always proud to present the Brown-Bonwick Memorial Handicap and thank all the volunteers, and the competitors for upholding the tradition.
