UQ Athletic Club hosts University of Queensland Athletic Championships.

The Event:  On March 10th the UQ Athletic Club is hosting the inaugural University Athletic Championships.  The event is scheduled to run from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.  Click on the link below to see the program of events.  The meet will be contested in two divisions Open and Under 18 for both male and female.  Athletes are encouraged to enter a number of events as at the end of the meet the Club Champion will be announced for each of the four divisions.  Additionally medals will be awarded to the top three place getters in each event.

Non Traditional Events:  Two non traditional athletic events are also being offered on the program – the 3 minute run and Strategy Relays.  Entrants in the 3 minute run will run as far as they can in the 3 minute time with the winner being the athlete who runs the furthest.  In the Strategy Relay a team is made up of 4 runners who will run the entire 1000m distance in their assigned lane – appropriate starting staggers will be identified.  The four runners will work out the length of leg for each runner to allow them to get the best out their team members. This is where the strategy component comes in to play. Change zones will not be identified, as each team will use different change positions.

Who is eligible to compete:  The meet is open to all UQAC club members whether a university student or not.  It is open to all university students whether members of UQAC, another QA Club, or not registered with any club.  Therefore QA registration numbers and UQ student numbers will be required as part of the entry process.  University students who are not part of a club will be given a temporary number.
