First Responders

Gain real-world experience in sport and event first aid — and get paid for it.

Queensland Athletics runs a First Responders Program for students and emerging health professionals looking to build hands-on experience at athletics competitions. It’s a great fit if you’re studying physiotherapy, sport and exercise science, paramedicine, nursing, or a related health field.

As part of the program you’ll gain a nationally recognised Sports Trainer accreditation (fully reimbursed by QA), work alongside experienced clinical leads, and get paid for practical experience at Track & Field meets across the season. You’ll develop real skills in injury response, athlete care, and event first aid — supported and supervised every step of the way.

Whether you’re just starting out or building toward a career in sports medicine, it’s a chance to learn on the ground at real competitions.
